Rachel joined CERT after almost 25 years with the NZ Police. Her work spanned a diverse range of roles, including nine years as a senior prosecutor. The time she spent in the CIB as an investigator, in the areas of organised crime and child abuse, have provided her with a wealth of knowledge in New Zealand’s criminal procedures, laws and statutes, and a passion to share that knowledge to benefit CERT clients across the country.
Rachel has a tertiary degree in psychology and criminology, both of which help her understand “how people tick” – particularly in high risk or stressful situations.
She also spent time on the Diplomatic Protection Squad, working with visiting overseas VIPs, and New Zealand’s Prime Minister at the time, the Rt Hon Jenny Shipley. This too, has provided her with a unique set of skills relating to the field of Close Protection and working with international diplomatic staff.
”We live in a world where our communication skills, and our ability to read situations, are more important than ever. So often, we compromise our personal safety, when some very simple steps in dealing with people, would help us immensely.”
Rachel is based in Whanganui and can be contacted on

"This course has the power to be life-changing. The techniques taught have already been of significant assistance to me at home with my children.
