Stab Resistant Vests

DC’s ultra-lightweight stab resistant vests provide the very best in edged and blunt weapon protection. They are a highly functional solution for protection from attacks / assaults.

One of the major advantages DC SRBA vests offer over many other brands is their exceptional 'blunt force trauma protection'. The most common risk most officers face is not being stabbed, but rather being punched, kicked or struck with a blunt object such as a piece of wood etc.

While traditional ‘soft armour’ vests (usually made out of Kevlar or a similar material) offer some protection against such an attack, the fluid shock transfer through such material and into the wearer's body can still be significant. Because DC's SRBA vests are made out of moulded polycarbonate, they offer exceptional protection against blunt force trauma by spreading the impact of the strike across the face of the protective panel.

Other advantages of DC SRBA vests include:

• Lightness – up to 20% lighter than some other brands

• Durability – because polycarbonate doesn’t break down in the same way as material such as Kevlar does, the vests have a much longer operational lifespan

• No water absorption – if Kevlar gets wet it absorbs the water increasing the weight of the vestas well as significantly compromising the protective properties of the vest. Because polycarbonate panels do not absorb water, they do not increase in weight and they retain their full protective properties

• Price – Defence Composite vests are up to 20% cheaper than some other brands

The most common style of vest worn in New Zealand	Tabard A non-confrontational style that looks like a normal safety vest while still providing you the assurance of protective panels	Covert Worn under your shirt for the most discrete appearence

Defence Composite vests are available in standard sizes from XS to 6XL.

Protective panels are available in standard, wide and extra wide as well as extra curved (female).

Made to measure / custom panels are also available if required.

               

CERT Standard overt design

We have worked with Defence Composites to design an overt SRBA vest that we believe is ideal for most New Zealand applications. This vest features:

• Two Klickfast mounts for body worn video camera etc
• Duty belt loops
• Front pockets
• Shoulder radio microphone loops
• Large (rear) and small (front breast) Velcro patches for ID patches
• Black carrier

 

While this design is our standard carrier, we can customise it to meet any specific requirements you may have.
